Pronounced “ROY-BUS”, this tea is actually technically considered an herbal tea. Rooibos means “red bush” which also describes the color of the tea. It is only grown in the Cedarburg area of Cape Town, South Africa. This tea is naturally sweet and decaffeinated.
When first picked, Rooibos is green and has a slightly earthy taste to it, but when crushed and fermented, it turns bright red and becomes sweeter. This tea has a myriad of health benefits associated with it such as anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral. It contains calcium, manganese and fluoride which is good for your teeth and bones. Rooibos contains alpha-hydroxy acid and zinc which is good for acne, sun burn and eczema. Scientists testing it have just begun to scratch the surface of this amazing tea.
