White Tea consists of the first leaves to be picked off of the Camellia Sinensis plant. Picking the leaves happens only about two weeks each year, leaving White Tea one of the most exotic teas of the world. The leaves are then dried without processing. Because of the minimal human processing, this tea is considered to be the “healthiest” of all of the Camellia Sinensis Teas.
Many of the anti-oxidants that mother nature has put into the tea are retained because there has been no oxidation to the leaf. White tea is EXTREMELY light and without added flavors has almost no taste. As such, most white teas are really blended or flavored with other herbs. Plain White tea steeps up to a beautiful light yellow color. Those who enjoy White tea without flavoring like it because of the mild flavor and the health benefits.
